Where does your money go?
Although the Grady Nia Project provides services to a score of women and men, the funding is very limited and does not cover many necessary items and services that are vital to our project’s success. The women receiving treatment are indigent with few resources. Often, money for food is limited, and many of them have small children. Therefore, we have to provide a number of resources to the women participating in the Grady Nia Project. During groups we provide childcare and snacks for the women and their children. Additionally we provide small gifts for the women, as tokens of appreciation and in support of their efforts to secure safety for themselves and their children. Further many of the items that we provide to the women are designed to help enhance their self-esteem and make them feel better about themselves. We also attempt to keep our resource room stocked with healthy food items, personal care items and toiletries, as well as books, clothing, and toys for the women and their children.
We would greatly appreciate any contributions of food, beverages, paper goods, toys, and small gifts for the women that you can provide. Some examples of items that have been donated to the project in the past include:
- Individually wrapped snack items
- Sodas/water/juice boxes
- Cereal and breakfast bars
- Non-perishable food items
- Toiletry items
- Toilet paper/other paper goods
- Votive candles
- Greeting cards
- Scented soaps or lotions
- Gift bags
- Craft materials
- Merchant gift certificates
This list is by no means exhaustive, and any contributions you make will be sincerely appreciated. All corporate donors are listed on our website.
We also welcome monetary donations, which can be used to purchase such items for the women’s use.
